Engaging with County Leaders: TAC 2025 Legislative Conference

Summary:

Last week, our Founder, President & CEO, Angela Broyles, attended the Texas Association of Counties’ 2025 Legislative Conference in Austin, Texas. The annual conference brought together county officials, state leaders, and organizational partners to discuss land use, cybersecurity, disaster prep, emergency response and more, all topics directly connected with data collected during the upcoming census.

Engaging with county leaders is vital to building strong census strategies, as counties play a central role in ensuring resources reach communities across the state. TxCI’s Roadmap to 2030 prioritizes partnering with counties to understand local challenges, share research, and build capacity for outreach. As census operations accelerate, counties will be at the center of ensuring every Texan is counted, which is why TxCI’s participation in TAC’s Legislative Conference is such an important step in deepening these partnerships.

Webinar Takeaways:

Funding and Representation: Sessions highlighted the importance of fair representation and sustainable funding streams for Texas counties, themes that align directly with TxCI’s funding implication and economic impact research.
Service Delivery: County officials emphasized how reliable data underpins effective service delivery in areas like public safety, health, and infrastructure.
Legislative Updates: Attendees received insights into upcoming legislative priorities and the role of counties in shaping statewide strategies.
