The Collin County Counts CCC represented the Cities of Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Plano, and Richardson. The CCC was organized by the Collin County Business Alliance, which partnered with other local chambers of commerce and Mayors, to encourage Census response in the region.
The City of Plano’s CCC was formed by the City’s Planning Department and worked with Collin County Counts, the City Council, Plano ISD, faith-based organizations, and a local consultant to plan and conduct Census outreach in the area.
One of the most effective partners of Plano’s Census outreach was Plano ISD, which helped distribute Census information to families in multiple languages. Plano ISD reports that over 80 different languages are spoken at home by students. Local churches, mosques, and other places of worship were trusted messengers within their communities, creating videos about the Census and talking about its importance during worship.
